Grand Opening

Sometimes the weekend is filled with thrilling and novel adventures, sometimes an event is fun or moving or at least noteworthy in some way, and sometimes you go to a supermarket grand opening. The new Super Giant Food (no, all the food is actually normal sized) opened about 5 minutes away from us, and we couldn’t resist stopping by to check things out on Saturday morning, since it’s so convenient to us that we’ll probably end up doing most of our shopping there. I was hoping for quite a bit of grand opening hoopla: giveways, free food, maybe a mariachi band (I love a mariachi band). There were few free samples, no worthwhile giveaways, no raffles or prizes, no music, and we didn’t come home with so much as a flower or a balloon. But they did have a giant furry turtle, so the morning wasn’t a total loss.
